Our Sweet Poppy Artists

Meet Our Sweet Poppy Artists: Jen and Emily . . . each with a natural talent and distinctive style, whose creations inspire our Sweet Poppy Collection.

JEN

I grew up in the south surrounded with creativity. My mom is naturally creative and my dad was a professional sign painter, preferring hand-lettering and gold leaf methods over more modern computer rendering and printing. My grandmother Isabel sold her wire furniture and other creations in local flea markets and art bazaars. My journey in the world of art began over twenty years ago when I painted an art piece for my husband's new office which ignited my passion for creative expression and led me to pursue a career as a freelance artist. One of my greatest joys is facilitating creative workshops, where I witness individuals come together and uncover their God-given talents. I am blessed to be part of the Sweet Poppy team. It's an honor to create art that helps people focus on beauty, and God's truth, and simply add a little lovely to the world.

EMILY

I grew up in a yellow house in the middle of a little country town in California. We picked fresh fruit and veggies from the garden and orchard that my Dad managed to cram into a half-acre in the most succinct, yet lovely way. And it was my mom who cultivated that desire in me by encouraging me to create, even letting me paint whatever I wanted on my bedroom walls (which manifested itself into a giant carrot the length of my queen-size headboard). Though I have never been formally taught, I have learned from different people who have been generous enough to share their talent and insights with me. Over the years, what once felt like a hobby, became a deeply rooted, vital part of my life. Art is a gift that we have been given to discover and point others to the Truer Story. Art gives people a thing that they have been longing for, whether in their sorrow or joy, or curiosity. My greatest hope is that what I make is a path to the Maker himself.
